March for Independence - Bangor

1pm, 23 September 2023 - BANGOR

Starting and finishing at Glanrafon Car Park.

Meet from 11am-12pm with the march leaving promptly at 1pm.

The march will travel down Bangor High Street, turning onto Glynne Road before proceeding down Deiniol Road back towards Glanrafon Car Park.


INDY WALES RALLY - Following the March

Following the march there will be a Rally at Glanrafon Car Park starting from around 2pm, with a large stage and screen, speakers and music. Amongst those taking part are:

INDY MARKET

Next to Glanrafon Car Park, The Old Bowling Green will host an "Indy Market" from 10am to 4pm, where organisations will promote their causes, and local artisans and producers will showcase their offerings, creating a space for communal engagement and support.


INDY GIG

As the day turns to evening, the celebration continues with the “Independence Gig” at Theatr Bryn Terfel, Pontio. Fleur De Lys, Tara Bandito, 3 Hwr Doeth, and Maes Parcio are set to rock the stage, promising an evening of entertainment that resonates with the day's themes. Click here to buy your ticket.


FRINGE EVENTS

  • Folk-Music for Indy Afternoon: Bring your instrument, come along for a jam at Tafarn y Glôb in Upper Bangor after the march for an afternoon of folk music. The session will be from 3pm - 5pm and should warm us all up before the Indy-gig in the evening.

  • Yes Cymru Question Time Panel Discussion: Come to Penrhyn Hall, Bangor at 7.30pm next Friday on the eve of the big independence march for a fascinating panel discussion. Join our panel of politicians and experts to discuss identity and heritage, the housing market and communitisation. Chair - Menna Jones (former CEO of Antur Waunfawr), Catrin Wager (Plaid Cymru), Adam Turner (Wales Green Party), Walis George (Former CEO of Tai Eryri), Grant Paisley (expert on renewable energy and community decarbonisation), Menna Machraeth (Welsh language campaigner).

INDY CAMPSITE

Treborth Caravan and Camping site in Bangor will be an indy-campsite for all our marchers who wish to pitch a tent, park a caravan or campervan over the march weekend. Contact Jimmy on 07803 611429 to book your pitch and tell him that you're marching to secure a 10% discount on your stay.

COACHES TO THE MARCH

YesCymru are organising coaches to the March for Independence in Bangor with tickets available via the YesCymru Shop.


DONATIONS WELCOMED

AUOBCymru aim to raise £3,000 towards the costs of every March for Independence. Please donate whatever you can. The Marches for Independence are also generously funded by YesCymru.
